CLAUDE + EVERYGEN GUIDE

I Used Claude Opus 5.5 To Make a Viral Short

I studied Discovery Dose with Claude, then made a lionfish Short in Everygen. Copy the Claude requests, narration, and 12 generation prompts below.

The finished Short

The final edit, with narration, sourced footage, generated shots, music, and captions.

Start with the channel analysis

Analyze Discovery Dose’s most viral Shorts. What makes their hooks, pacing, reveals, and endings work?

Claude found a repeatable structure: a strange opening, fast visual changes, a delayed explanation, and an ending that loops back to the start. I used that structure for the lionfish story.

Opening shot examples

The hook

Open on the diver, then show the fish the story is about.

Diver lining up a spear
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic amateur underwater footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an action camera, deep focus — a scuba diver in a black wetsuit hovers beside a limestone reef ledge and slowly eases a long bright-yellow pole spear forward toward a red-and-white striped lionfish sheltering under the overhang, the spear tip closing in steadily, a clear plastic collection tube clipped to his side. Setting: a sunny Bahamian reef about six meters deep, brain coral, sea fans, white sand, a few blue chromis darting. Bright daylight filtering through clear turquoise water with rippling light patterns on the sand. The camera is handheld from beside the diver with gentle drift, holding on the spear and the lionfish. Real texture — scuffed yellow fiberglass spear, worn gloves, algae on the ledge, floating particles, deep focus with everything sharp, natural slightly punchy digital color. Natural ambient sound only: regulator bubbles, no music, no voice. Real amateur footage look, deep focus, flat natural light, natural true-to-life digital color, one continuous real-time shot, no cuts, no slow motion, no shallow depth of field, no cinematic look, no color grading, no text, no captions, no watermark, no logos, nothing glossy or AI-perfect.

Lionfish gathering on a reef
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic amateur underwater footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an action camera, deep focus — a single rocky coral head on a sandy seabed crawling with about a dozen red-and-white striped lionfish, some hovering above it with fins fanned, others tucked in crevices and resting on the sand at its base, slowly drifting in place. Setting: a Caribbean reef about thirteen meters deep, brain coral and orange sponge patches on the coral head, flat white sand around it, open greenish-blue water behind. Flat diffuse daylight through the water with faint rippling light on top of the coral, slight greenish cast. The camera slowly pushes toward the coral head with small handheld wobble. Real texture — torn fin edges on some lionfish, algae on the rock, backscatter particles, deep focus throughout, natural slightly punchy digital color. Natural ambient sound only: muffled water and bubbles, no music, no voice.

These are source generations. The finished edit also includes real footage, narration, music, and captions.

The Claude prompts

The Claude requests here are short, copyable versions of what I said in the video; not every typed message was shown. The prompts beside the generated clips are the exact ones I used.

Ask for ideas with a reveal

Based on the analysis, give me five original video ideas. For each one, include the hook, the story we will tell, the final reveal, and which viral video inspired it.

Claude returned five ideas. The video shows two hooks clearly: farmers brushing bugs off cactus because you may have eaten them, and divers spearing beautiful fish to save the ocean. I chose the lionfish idea, option three.

Write the chosen script

I want to use the third idea. Write its short-form script with Everygen, following the hook, pacing, delayed reveal, and loop principles from the channel analysis.

The script kept the moral tension in the opening, connected each fact to the next, and saved the word ‘lionfish’ for the end. The narration copied from the rough cut is below.

Map every line to a shot

Now map every line of the script to a visual. Find suitable real-world footage where possible. If a line has no suitable footage, identify the AI clip we need to generate.

The shot map paired narration with footage. One useful real-world clip came from a small channel the creator says he would not have found himself. The remaining gaps became Everygen generations, shown below with their prompts.

The lionfish narration

Transcribed from the rough cut and export shown in the video; punctuation has been cleaned up.

These divers are spearing every one of these beautiful fish, and it's actually saving the ocean. And it may seem wrong to kill them, but they're an invasive species from the Indo-Pacific with no natural predators in the Atlantic and Caribbean. So nothing stops them from eating huge numbers of native reef fish, including the small fish that keep coral reefs healthy. And keep in mind that a single female can release millions of eggs every year. But since their spines are venomous, divers catch them with special spears and now hold hunting competitions to remove as many as possible. As once the spines are cut off, the meat is white and mild. So restaurants now serve them because lionfish is actually delicious. And that's why…

I held the word “lionfish” until the end. Claude’s shot map gave each line a visual; I used real footage where it fit and generated clips for the gaps.

The clips and exact generation prompts

These are the 12 outputs from the project, in story order. Play a shot, then open its prompt to copy the exact text. The finished edit also uses sourced footage, so these are the generated building blocks rather than the complete Short.

Why the hunt matters

The reef shots explain the threat before the story returns to the divers.

Grouper passing lionfish
See the exact generation prompt

Recreate the shot in the reference video as a vertical 9:16 frame, matching its look, colors and subject as closely as possible. Authentic wildlife stock footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an underwater camera, the animals sharp with only the far water soft — a large mottled brown-and-olive Nassau grouper swims slowly up to two red-and-white striped lionfish sitting at the mouth of a dark coral cave, stops a few centimeters from them with its fins gently sculling, the lionfish holding still with fins fanned out, the grouper showing no interest. Setting: a Caribbean reef about eight meters deep, coral rock covered in green algae, sea fans, natural blue-green water. Flat diffuse daylight through the water, natural color. The camera holds nearly still with slight underwater drift, framing both fish tall in the vertical frame. Real texture — scarred grouper skin, algae, floating particles, natural digital color. Natural ambient sound only: muffled water, no music, no voice. Real wildlife stock-footage look, flat natural light, natural true-to-life digital color, one continuous real-time shot, no cuts, no slow motion, no cinematic look, no color grading, no black bars, full-frame vertical image, no text, no captions, no watermark, no logos.

Lionfish catching a small reef fish
See the exact generation prompt

Recreate the shot in the reference video as a vertical 9:16 frame, matching its look, colors and subject as closely as possible. Authentic wildlife stock footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an underwater camera close to the seabed, the fish sharp — a red-and-white striped lionfish hovers head-down just above pale coral sand with its wide fan fins spread, then dips its head into the sand to gulp a small goby, a small puff of white sand rising around its head. Setting: a sandy patch beside a Caribbean reef about ten meters deep, scattered shell fragments and pebbles, clear turquoise water. Flat natural daylight filtering from above with faint rippling light on the sand. The camera holds nearly still with slight drift, keeping the lionfish centered and tall in the vertical frame. Real texture — fine sand grains, torn fin edges, floating particles, natural slightly punchy digital color.

Lionfish releasing eggs
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic wildlife stock footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an underwater camera at dusk, the fish sharp with only the far water soft — a female red-and-white striped lionfish rises slowly in open water above a reef with her fins fanned out, and a translucent jelly-like balloon of egg mass, packed with thousands of tiny pale eggs, slowly drifts upward away from her body toward the surface, a male lionfish hovering close beside her. Setting: the open water column a few meters above a darkening Caribbean reef, the reef top faintly visible below, blue evening water above. Dim, soft evening light filtering from the surface, a slightly blue cast, natural color. The camera holds nearly still with slight underwater drift, framing the lionfish and the rising egg mass tall in the vertical frame. Real texture — the glistening see-through egg mass with tiny speckled eggs inside, torn fin edges, floating particles and backscatter, natural digital color. Natural ambient sound only: muffled water, no music, no voice. Real wildlife stock-footage look, the fish sharp, natural light, natural true-to-life digital color, one continuous real-time shot, no cuts, no slow motion, no cinematic look, no color grading, no black bars, full-frame vertical image, no text, no captions, no watermark, no logos.

The catch

Bring the action back to the spear, the boat, and the tournament.

Speared lionfish on the pole
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic amateur underwater footage, vertical 9:16, shot on an action camera, deep focus — a scuba diver in a black wetsuit and black gloves holds a long pole spear with a red-and-white striped lionfish already pinned on the three-prong tip, its spiny fins flared, and slowly draws the spear back toward the camera past a rocky coral ledge. Setting: a Caribbean reef about fifteen meters deep, brain coral, sponges, sandy patches, small reef fish drifting, greenish-blue water. Flat diffuse daylight filtered through the water, a slight greenish cast, floating particles. The action camera is handheld with gentle underwater drift, holding on the spear tip and the lionfish. Real texture — worn neoprene gloves, the scuffed spear shaft, algae on the rocks, backscatter specks, natural slightly punchy digital color.

Catch emptied into the boat
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic real-world creator footage, vertical 9:16, shot handheld on a smartphone, deep focus with everything sharp — a close handheld shot looking down into a bright orange five-gallon bucket on the white deck of a fishing boat, already half full of wet red-and-white striped lionfish with spiny fins splayed, as a diver's gloved hands tilt a clear plastic tube and a few more small lionfish slide out into the bucket. Setting: a sunny center console boat off the Florida Keys, scuba hoses and a black dive boot on the non-skid deck, a yellow bucket nearby, blue water past the gunwale. Harsh bright midday sun, a little overexposed, hard shadows. The phone is handheld with small natural shake, holding on the bucket. Real texture — glistening wet fish, water pooling on the deck, scuffed plastic, deep focus, natural slightly punchy digital color, faint phone oversharpening. Natural ambient sound only: water sloshing and wind, no music, no voice.

Lionfish tournament catch
See the exact generation prompt

Authentic handheld footage, vertical 9:16, filmed on a phone at a busy dockside fishing tournament weigh-in, deep focus — a close handheld shot down over a long folding table covered in a wet blue tarp as two gloved hands slowly slide freshly speared red-and-white striped lionfish off a pile into neat rows, dozens of lionfish already laid out with their spiny fins splayed, a yellow plastic measuring board at the table edge. Setting: a sunny marina dock, orange plastic buckets full of more lionfish on the wooden planks, a scuffed white cooler, divers in wetsuits standing around behind the table, boat masts in the background. The reveal

The kitchen shots turn the ending into a surprise: lionfish is served as food.

Filleting a lionfish
See the exact generation prompt

Real close-up process footage, vertical 9:16, shot handheld on a smartphone, deep focus — a chef's hands on a pale wooden cutting board slowly slide a long thin Japanese knife along the backbone of a whole raw red-and-white striped lionfish, separating a pale pink-white fillet from the bones while the venomous dorsal spines stay intact on the carcass, one hand holding the head steady. Setting: a home kitchen counter, a clear plastic tub of ice with another lionfish in it, a folded towel and a steel bowl nearby, dark wood cabinets behind. Plain daylight from a nearby window, even and natural. The phone is handheld with small natural shake, looking down over the chef's hands and the knife. Real texture — wet glistening flesh, fine scales, the knife edge, water beading on the board, deep focus with everything sharp, natural slightly punchy digital color. Natural ambient sound only: the soft slice of the knife, no music, no voice. Cutting a lionfish fillet
See the exact generation prompt

Recreate the shot in the reference video as a vertical 9:16 frame, but framed much tighter, matching its look, colors and subject. Real close-up process footage, vertical 9:16, shot handheld on a smartphone held close, deep focus — a tight close-up of a chef's fingers and a thin silver Japanese knife on a pale wooden cutting board as the blade slides flat under the thin pinkish skin of a raw lionfish fillet, peeling the skin back to reveal clean, glossy, pearly white meat, the fillet and the knife filling most of the frame. Setting: a home kitchen counter, the wood grain of the board visible at the edges. Plain even daylight from a nearby window. The phone is handheld close with small natural shake, holding on the knife and the white meat. Real texture — moist glistening flesh, the fine grain of the meat, the sharp knife edge, water beading on the board, natural slightly punchy digital color. Natural ambient sound only: soft knife sounds, no music, no voice. Real amateur footage look, flat natural light, natural true-to-life digital color, one continuous real-time shot, no cuts, no slow motion, no cinematic look, no color grading, no black bars, full-frame vertical image, no text, no captions, no watermark, no logos.

Put it together

Assemble the rough cut

Assemble the short with Everygen using the shot map. Leave out music, captions, and graphics so I can add and check those in the video editor.

The rough cut returned with voiceover and selected shots. I then added suspenseful music, Impact Bold captions, and a tracked red arrow in the editor. Those finishing steps are below.

  1. I added a suspenseful track in Everygen’s editor, trimmed it, and faded the volume with keyframes.
  2. I generated captions with the Impact Bold preset and checked the text myself.
  3. I added a red arrow on a separate track when the narration says “every one of these beautiful fish,” then keyframed it to follow the fish.
